A FRIGHTENED man was chased into a pizza shop by thugs wielding a baseball bat and a knife following a 'row over a parking space', it has been revealed.

Police officers were called in the early hours of Sunday evening by the frantic 25-year-old who said he had been cornered in Domino's pizza on Oxford Road.

Investigating officers said argument had ensued between the victim and a woman over a parking space in Catherine Street before two men arrived at his front door.

He then fled to the fast food outlet, while being chased, and attempted to hide behind the counter.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Officers received a call from the victim, a 25-year-old man who said that he had been chased into Domino's Pizza in Oxford Road by two men who it is believed had a baseball bat and a knife.

"This followed an argument which had taken place between the victim and a woman over a car parking space in Catherine Street.

"After the argument, the man went into a house in the same road, and shortly afterwards, the two men arrived at the address.

"The men pulled the victim from the house, and he then ran away from them."

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 6pm and two men were arrested.

Thames Valley Police wants anyone who saw the chase to contact them immediately on 101.

Detective Constable Brian Simmonds added: "I would like to talk to anyone who witnessed any part of this incident, whether that was in Catherine Street or in Oxford Road.

"If you saw anything, or if you have any information which you think could be relevant to our investigation, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101."
