FIREFIGHTERS had to extinguish a small blaze at a home in Crowthorne this morning.

Crews from Bracknell and Wokingham were called to Grant Road at around 6.15am on Thursday, January 19 after a blaze started in a cupboard near the electrical meter.

“Getting the fire under control was not an issue,” said watch manager at Bracknell Fire Station, Michael Fulwell. “Happily a fire extinguisher was enough and nobody was hurt.

“But we stayed there until 7.30am to make the scene safe. It also worth mentioning that the smoke detector had been taken down and not replaced.

“It was just luck that the only person in the property was awake at the time.”

It was unknown how the fire started.
