A GANG of men smashed their way into Tesco in Martins Heron and made off with cash and cigarettes last night.
At around 3.42am on Friday, January 13 the men broke into the store in Whitton Road by breaking the window of the glass door at Costa Coffee next to repair shop Timpsons.
The exact quantity of cigarettes and cash taken is unknown, but a store worker who preferred to remain anonymous told the News it was in the region of £400.
“It all happened so quickly,” he said. “There was a loud banging and all of a sudden they came rushing through the door and were gone in less than a minute.
“They knew exactly what they were doing.
“One of the night managers shouted for everyone to get off the shop floor while he rang the police who came really quickly but by the time they arrived they had gone.”
Thames Valley Police are linking the incident with similar break-in at Tesco in Dedworth Road, Windsor at around 2.28am.
The getaway vehicle used was a small, dark hatchback, police said.
Anyone with information should call 101.
