TRIBUTES have been paid to a father of two who lost his life in a road collision last week.

Fred Dowling, 52, died after being involved in a collision with a silver Volkswagen van in Winkfield Road, Windsor on Thursday, January 5.

A statement on behalf of his family spoke of his outgoing personality, his sense of humour, his love of Stoke City and how he will be desperately missed.

“He lived in Wokingham all of life, he was a staunch family man providing for his wife and two daughters,” the statement read.

“A beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all. Fred worked at Ricoh for 18 years as a printer.

“He loved his job and stayed with the company when they moved out of the Wokingham area.

"A massive Stoke City supporter and he would often be seen wearing his club's colours and attended as many matches as a season ticket holder.

“Music was a big part of Fred's life. The Doors being his favourite group. Fred, with his very outgoing personality and quirky sense of humour loved hearing and also telling jokes, and he has over the years given us all happy memories.

“Fred's family send their heartfelt thanks to the off-duty police officers, all emergency services and Frimley Park Hospital.”

Thames Valley Police are continuing their appeal for information and are urging anyone who was travelling in Winkfield Road between 6am and 6.40am to come forward.
