POLICE have named the man who was killed while crossing a road in Bracknell over a week ago.

Maurice Valentine Kells, aged 62, and who lived at Hazell Hill in the town, died while he was crossing Bagshot Road at just after 5pm on December 16. He was hit by a white Land Rover near the station roundabout.

Hazell Hill lies just the other side of the roundabout opposite Market Street, and Mr Kells was just a few hundred metres from his homes.

Mr Kells was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he later died from his injuries.

A female driver of the Land Rover, who lives in Surrey, did not receive any major injuries.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident.
