A PEDESTRIAN has died in hospital after he was struck by a car while he was crossing the road near Bracknell station yesterday afternoon.

Emergency Services were called to Bagshot Road, near Market Street, at around 5.15pm on Friday, December 16 following reports a man was hit by a vehicle which stopped at the scene.

The pedestrian, a 62-year-old man from the town, was crossing the road when he was hit by a white Land Rover near the station roundabout.

South Central Ambulance Service sent one emergency response care unit, a rapid response vehicle and a land ambulance which rushed him to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

He later died of his injuries and his next of kin have been informed, police said.

Thames Valley Police closed the road for several hours last night and advised road users to avoid the area while they carried out their investigation.

The force has also confirmed the female driver of the vehicle, from Surrey, suffered from shock but sustained no injuries.

“We are looking for anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident,” said investigating officer, police constable James Lovell.

He added: “The collision happened close to the railway station in Bracknell town centre at a busy time. If you have not come forward to the police yet we would ask you to do so.”

Anyone with information should call 101.
