THE giant poppies have returned to Bracknell Forest looking as good as new.

The 28 poppies, first used in 2013, have been reinstalled at roundabouts and other locations across the borough ahead of Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, but there are an additional two poppies installed this year, bringing the total on display to 30.

Cllr Mrs Dorothy Hayes MBE, executive member for the environment, said: “The poppies have had a much-needed refurbishment this year, free of charge as a goodwill gesture from our contractors Continental Landscapes Limited (CLL), so thank you very much to them.

“Everyone really enjoys seeing the poppies around the borough at this time of year. They remain a great talking point and we enjoy hearing the positive feedback they get from residents and visitors.”

While CLL have refurbished the poppies this year, and also undertake the installations, there will be a cost to Bracknell Forest Council for installing them from next year onwards.

The council is therefore looking for any organisations which can help contribute to the installation and maintenance of the poppies.
