A BUDDING photojournalist from Sunningdale has had her work published in the new autobiography of a former professional English footballer.

Poppy Harris took a picture of ex-England forward and Chelsea goal scorer Kerry Dixon for his book entitled Up Front.

The 15-year-old, who attends the Marist School in Ascot, said: "I enjoy photography and English, so it's really excellent that my photo was published in the Kerry Dixon book.

"Kerry was really nice to meet and very patient while being photographed!"

Poppy may soon be following in her parents' footsteps in breaking into the world of journalism.

In addition to her photography exploits she spent a week over the summer holidays at Closer magazine in London, working directly with the editorial department.

Her dad Harry is a former Fleet Street sports columnist, whilst mum Linda used to work for the Sunday People magazine as a features editor.

Harry said: "I am very proud of the fact that Poppy's photo has been published.

"She has shown great application and the publisher liked it very much."

He is keen to nurture Poppy's photography skills, encouraging her to take the subject for GCSE and A level.

But he also acknowledges his daughter's multi-talented prowess.

"She is very keen on music and plays in the school orchestra," he added.

Up Front details Kerry Dixon's rise to become a goal-scoring machine in the 1980s and how he dealt with his subsequent fall from grace, in his own words.

Published with a foreword from Frank Lampard, the book is in stock now.
