A GROUP of college students were trapped in a lift for around half an hour this afternoon as temperatures nudged 30°.
The 12 students, along with two members of staff were stuck for half an hour in a lift in Bracknell and Wokingham College until firefighters arrived to release them after being called at around 3pm.
Crews from Bracknell and Wokingham attended the scene along with two ambulances who found at least two students on the verge of fainting.
Bracknell station manager Ashley Bannister said: "With it being a hot and humid day panic did begin to set in.
"We had to manually override the system and lower the lift to let them out.
"A couple of them were on the verge of fainting."
In a statement, Bracknell and Wokingham College said: "Due to the weather being unseasonably hot a number of students needed some minor medical attention by paramedics but all were cleared and able to go home as normal.
"Lift engineers are investigating and the defective lift has been taken out of service until it has been completely inspected and approved safe for use."
