THOUSANDS of campers will be hoping the weather warning issued for Reading doesn't come to pass.

The Met office have issued a yellow warning for the town, advising 'torrential downpours' could lead to flooding.

The warning is due to last into the evening and could see areas across South East England drenched.

The chief forecaster at the Met office said: "A frontal zone associated with very warm and moist air will continue to move northwards across England and Wales during Saturday, with an increasing risk of thunderstorms developing and tracking northeastwards across the warning area.

"There still remains some uncertainty in where the heaviest and most prolonged thundery downpours will occur, with some places in the warning area having only small amounts of rain.

" However, there is a risk of some torrential downpours developing which could produce around 30 mm of rain within an hour and very locally 50 mm within 2-3 hours."

The Met Office warn people when hazardous weather has the potential to endanger life or cause wide-spread disruption.
