A PAIR of twin brothers who attend Edgbarrow School are celebrating another thing in common with their identical A level results, but they are finally parting ways to attend different universities.

Students Michael and Tom Truckle, 17, were both delighted with achieving an A* in Business and A's in Economics and Maths.

“Hands down, it's the best day of my life,” Michael said. “It's really special for me because I struggled last year and had to re-sit a few AS levels, so I had to work extra hard.

“I've been relatively calm the last few months, but these last few weeks I started to feel it.

“But to achieve this and with Tom doing so well it, too, makes this extra special. It just goes to show at the end of the day if you put the work and the hours in then it is worth it.”

Micheal will head off to Durham University to study a degree in accounting.

His brother, Tom, added: “It was a bit of a surprise. These were my predicted results but still, I'm delighted. I think having a twin pushed me because we are really competitive.

“And that's what drove me forward, I definitely don't think I would have worked as hard had I not seen him really putting the effort in. I'm just relieved now and really excited for the future.”

Overall the Crowthorne school scored a 99.6 per cent A level pass rate, with 62 per cent of students achieving A*-B and 87 per cent bagging A*-C grades.

Head of Sixth Form Tony Evans said: "We are delighted once again with our amazing students, who have done fantastically well this year overall at A level and vocational subjects.

"We are so proud of them at all ability levels. They achieved their ambitious targets but it was the manner in which they did that which was so impressive."
