THE academy revealed as the sponsor of two new schools in Binfield is keen to know what the community "really wants" from them ahead of the opening in 2018.

Both Binfield Learning Village and a new primary school at Amen Corner North will be run by King's Group Academies when they eventually open in 2018, it was revealed in June.

The academy status means the schools will not be the responsibility of Bracknell Forest Council and will instead be funded directly from the government's Department for Education.

Speaking to the News, the group's founder Sir Roger Fry said they already ran schools across the globe and specialised in languages with a focus of science and maths.

He said: "We saw that there was a development in that area which involved setting up what is in fact the first all-through school in the area and it's in an area where there are international companies. We thought it would be very interesting for us to produce a really good school with high quality teaching and good academic successes which is what we do in our schools.

"We do not want a large number, we would like to have about seven schools and develop them into high quality schools with very good education, good teaching, good outcomes for students for their future education at university or future career."

Sir Roger has more than 40 years of work developing schools with Kings Group after first starting out as a teacher in his hometown of Portsmouth and then teaching abroad.

He added: "The schools that are in the group are all new schools, we are specialists in creating new schools and providing what the community wants.

"We want to ask families what they really want. We have to listen to the families and parents to find out what they want."

CEO of King's Group, Richard Schofield, said: "The support and development team at King's Group Academies has a wealth of experience with Ofsted 'outstanding' headteachers, national leaders of education and school inspectors.

"As well as working closely with the community, we are looking forward to harnessing the global learning opportunities provided by King's international schools. We aim to establish both Binfield Learning Village and Amen Corner North as outstanding academies offering excellent education for local children."

King's Group plan to hold consultation events with parents and those living in the community in the coming months to find out how they can best serve the community and families.

The two new schools will open to new students in September 2018.
