THE academy set to run two new Binfield Schools who will teach more than 2,000 pupils from Bracknell Forest has finally been revealed.

Binfield Learning Village, the borough's first all-through school, and a primary school at Amen Corner North will both be run by the King's Group Academies, a charitable trust who currently run one school in Portsmouth as well as schools in Spain, Latvia and Panama.

The decision was made by the Regional Schools Commissioner after an evaluation by Bracknell Forest Council who have been working to address an urgent need for more school places across the borough.

Cllr Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning, said: “I am very pleased to hear the announcement by the schools commissioner, which endorses our robust approach to evaluating the significant interest we had in these proposals. I was particularly impressed with King’s Group’s core values which underpin the council’s strategy to ensure future pupils have the education opportunities they need to thrive. I look forward to working with King’s Group Academies to develop these important schools.”

Binfield Learning Village, part of the controversial plans to build 400 new homes on land at Blue Mountain Golf Course, will teach 1,851 young people from nursery through to sixth form as well as providing facilities for children with special educational needs.

It gained full planning permission from the council on June 15 this year while the new homes, community facilities, open space and sports provision was given outline permission.

A one-form primary school at Amen Corner North will cater for 210 children to help meet demand for places from the 277 new homes currently being developed at the site by Bellway Homes.

Sir Roger Fry, chairman of King’s Group Academies, said: “I am delighted at the announcement that King’s Group Academies will be providing education for more than 2,000 young people in Bracknell Forest and look forward to providing high quality education that delivers the best possible outcomes for our young people, as well as contributing to the wider community.”

The trust is led by headteacher, Richard Schofield.
