THE annual Relay for Life will take place next weekend at Ascot Racecourse and everyone is invited.

The event - which has raised over £750,000 for Cancer Research in less than a decade - will kick off at noon with an opening ceremony and will be attended by Bracknell Forest Mayor Tony Virgo.

After that around 70 cancer survivors will walk the opening lap to encourage team members who will be walking the track in turn for 24 hours from midday on Saturday until midday on Sunday throughout the night.

Reading Scottish Pipe Band will lead them out around the track.

There will be around 35 team stalls all raising funds for Cancer Research UK and family-friendly activities.

Hot and cold food will be available as well as tea and cakes.

On stage there will be a full programme of entertainment including local bands, a theatre school, singers from both The Voice and Australian Idol.

Zumba, belly dancing, line dancing, tug of war, human table football and fancy dress laps and competitions will entertain guests.

There will also be a health awareness area related to early cancer awareness and prevention and a healthy lifestyle.

Candles of Hope dedicated and donated to those who have died from cancer or those celebrating a recovery from cancer will be on sale throughout the day with an opportunity to decorate them at the craft table.

This will end in a moving ceremony at 10pm where the candles are lit around the track and the word 'hope' will be illuminated throughout the night.

Admission is free and open to all from 11.30am until 11pm.
