A MAN has been charged after threatening shop staff with an imitation firearm in attempts to steal cash.

Sam Robertson, 40, of Farnham Road, Slough, was charged on Thursday with one count of robbery, one count of attempted robbery and one count of possession of an imitation firearm.

The charges relate to two incidents at bookmakers in Farnham Road, Slough, on Tuesday, June 14.

During the first incident, a man entered Ladbrokes at about 8.23pm and handed over a note demanding to be given cash. He held what appeared to be a black imitation handgun. No money was handed over.

At about 8.27pm, a man then entered Coral bookmakers and handed over a note demanding cash. He was carrying what appeared to be a small imitation handgun and stole a sum of cash.

Robertson appeared before Slough Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on Monday, July 25.
