IT'S business as usual for the Thames Valler Chamber of Commerce despite the turbulent reaction to the EU referendum results today.

Britain voted to leave the European Union in yesterday's poll sending Sterling into a downwards spiral and wiping billions of pounds from the stock markets.

However Bracknell's chairman of the local Chamber of Commerce, Peter Smith, says they will continue to support businesses and encourage them to "adapt" with the changes.

In his initial thoughts on leaving, Mr Smith said: "The Chamber will continue to support businesses of all sizes as new changes emerge.  We will brief business on any trade changes and will be issuing an economic commentary early next week.

"The International Trade department will continue to take enquiries on compliance, certifications and market questions.  In other words business as usual.

"As stated by the Prime Minister the two-year process to leave will probably begin towards the end of the year and so for now no change which gives an opportunity to prepare.

"Successful Thames Valley businesses will continue to succeed as long as they adapt accordingly.

"My personal view is that, as always businesses need to plan the future, adapt to change, to meet any new challenges and to look for new opportunities.  TVBA will continue to support businesses throughout the Thames Valley and if any business owners have concerns, I am always happy to help."
