A CASH machine in Tilehurst caught fire early this morning after an attempt was made to break it free overnight.
Police and firecrews were called to reports of a smell of smoke at HSBC in School Road at 6am this morning (Saturday).
They found the ATM on fire and believe offenders tried to access it at around 3.07am.
Nothing was taken but the machine was damaged.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Sgt Emma Smith at the Reading station via 101.
