THIEVES have stolen a two foot concrete goose statue erected in memory of a couple's murdered daughter just days before the anniversary of her death.

Jennifer and David Sims woke this morning to find the goose, which had stood on a circular plinth, was missing from the front garden of her home in Hillberry, Bracknell.

It had once belonged to their 33-year-old daughter Dawn Clinton who was brutally murdered by husband Jon at his home in Inchwood on November 15, 2010.

He was jailed for 20 years after admitting the killing in 2012.

Mrs Sims said it was 'upsetting' to find the statue missing as it's only value was sentimental.

Speaking to the News she said: "It's very upsetting. We gave the goose to Dawn and she kept it at her house but when she died we moved it to our garden.

"Someone came overnight and took it. There must have been more than one of them because it's so heavy to move. It's only value is sentimental, it's priceless to us but it's not valuable to anyone else. I don't know why anyone would want to take it."

The couple took in their grandchildren after the death of their daughter five years ago and are appealing for any information which could help them track the goose down.

The police are currently investigating the theft.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "A 2ft concrete goose statue was stolen from outside a property in Hillberry between about midnight and 11am today.
