A MAN has died after being hit by a train at Ascot station last night.
The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called at around 9.41pm yesterday (Wednesday).
His family have been informed and his death is not being treated as suspicious.
South Central Ambulance sent one ambulance and an officer but say there was nothing they could do for the man once he was found.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to Ascot station in Berkshire on Wednesday, 11 November at 9.41pm following reports of a person hit by a train.
“Officers attended along with colleagues from Thames Valley Police and medics from South Central Ambulance Service, but sadly a man believed to be in his 20s from Ascot was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The man’s family have been informed and at this time we are not treating his death as suspicious.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner."
South West Trains were cancelled between Bracknell and Virginia Water last night, but all services have not returned to normal.
A South West Trains spokesperson said: "There were some delays in services for the rest of the night but given the time of day it was only a small number of services affected. Everything running fine today."
