A CHARITY set up in the memory of a nine-year-old Bracknell boy will feature in an annual charity TV fundraiser tomorrow.

Sebastian's Action Trust receives funding from Children in Need to help support more than 500 youngsters living with life-limiting conditions across Berkshire and will feature in a short film during the charity's annual TV broadcast around 9pm on Friday night.

Two families supported by the Trust will tell their stories and explain how the support from the trust has helped them.

Chief executive of the trust, Jane Gates, said: "The grant from Children in Need has enabled us to fund an outreach worker who provides an important service to families who are facing the death of a child, or who will live with the grief that comes with such a loss.

"This grant will help us continue to walk alongside such families, so we are very grateful to Children in Need for their valuable support. We are delighted that the Trust is featuring in the appeal show."

Establishing the trust to raise money to build a holiday home for seriously-ill children and their families was the dying wish of Sebastian Gates who died on Christmas Eve 2003 following a battle with a rare childhood cancer.

Sebastian's dream became a reality in 2011 when The Bluebells opened in Hampshire providing short breaks and respite care for 100 families a year.

The Trust are now pursuing plans to open a second centre in Bracknell to support more than 100 families with ill-children living in the area.

They hope more people will hear of their fundraising efforts after appearing on the Children in Need TV appeal.
