A MOTHER died in the grounds of her son's school after being run over by a car last week.

Sun Zhou, who lived in Ascot, died at the scene of the crash in a car park at Sunningdale Boys School, in Dry Arch Road, Sunningdale, at around 7.50pm on Thursday last week.

The 50-year-old had been attending a Bonfire Night and firework evening at the school when she was hit by a blue Ford Galaxy.

She is survived by her husband and two sons.

Tom Buchanan, a spokesman for the boarding school, said: “Sunningdale confirms that on the evening of the November 5, 2015, a vehicle accident occurred at the school which has resulted in the death of a parent.

“Investigations into the accident are continuing and we cannot comment further at this time.

“This is a tragedy for the family concerned and a very difficult time for the whole school community.

“We request that the privacy of all our pupils is respected as they come to terms with what has happened.”

Thames Valley Police is investigating the incident and is appealing for anyone with information, or who saw the car in the area before or after the crash, to come forward to help their investigations.

Police constable David Beeson, from the Force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or saw the vehicle travelling immediately prior to the collision.

“If you have any information about the collision, and have not already spoken to police, please call 101 as soon as possible as these details may assist the investigation.”

The boys boarding school teaches pupils aged seven to 13 and boasts famous alumni including the Queen’s cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, and Bamber Gascoigne.

The independent primary school has around 100 students and is located between Sunningdale and Sunninghill.
