AS part of the national month of bereavement for babies a town will be holding its first ever Wave Of Light event.

October is known globally as a month to remember and give thought to families who have lost babies and infants and as part of this Slough will participate, for the first time, in a “chain” of candles being lit across the world.

The Vishaal Foundation, based in Slough, has provided support to parents who have gone through the horrendous of ordeal of losing a child since 2013 and it is behind the Wave Of Light event taking place in Herschel Park, Slough.

Madhu Bedi, founder of the Vishaal Foundation, said: “The idea is to form a continuous wave of light because of the different time zones.

“We can’t change what’s happened but we can honour the children that have been lost.

“We can all be here together, standing united in this.”

Mrs Bedi lost her son in 2003 when he was born prematurely.

She said: “Noone spoke about my son and I found that very difficult.”

The Vishaal Foundation hold an annual service in Slough cemetery and this year held a Mother’s Day event.

Mrs Bedi said: “I don’t think time is a healer I think you just learn to deal with it better.

“There are lots of people that have had to walk the same path as myself.

“I’ve had a lady who lost her child 42 years ago and she told me ‘I finally feel like I’ve had a funeral for my child’.”

The Wave Of Light takes place on October 15, from 7pm.

Mrs Bedi said: “We’re supplying lotus candles for everybody. It will be very a simple and symbolic ceremony.

“We’ll light them together and then put them in the lake together.”
