Many hands make light work - especially when there are hundreds of pounds in change lying on the road.

Staff from Metro bank scooped up the mixture of copper and silver coins that had accidentally spilled onto the road in St Mary's Butts.

The coins were being transported to a waiting lorry when the container toppled off the trolley spilling its contents during the lunchtime rush.

Six members of staff were frantically scraping the coins off the road outside the Broad Street Mall and back into the container so it could carry on its journey.

Vans and buses queued back to The Horn pub as the lorry blocked the road while they cleared up the mess.

Minutes later the there was not a single penny lying on the asphalt after the sextet had completed the clear up opearation.
