The famous club arrived as part of Binfield’s 150th anniversary celebrations, kicking off a cricket week with a fantastic game at the F.W.E. Goates Memorial Ground.

The MCC batted first and were given the ideal start as openers Ollie Clayson (51) and Warren Miller gave them a strong platform.

The former was eventually run out thanks to a superb direct hit from Jack Collett, but Miller (117) completed an outstanding century before he was stumped off the bowling of Ian Goddard.

Mike Staves (3-52) proved the pick of the Binfield attack as the MCC declared on 240-7 off 46 overs.

The hosts lost Adam Marshall cheaply but Sean Ennis (35) and Staves (50) put them back in contention, before Carson (pictured right) came to the fore.

He smashed a swashbuckling 82 from just 59 balls which included 11 4s and two 6s, and although Binfield endured a little wobble towards the end, Greg Simmonds struck a boundary to see them over the line in the 37th over.

Binfield continued their run of success with another thrilling run chase against the Berkshire Gentlemen on Monday.

Star of the show was youngster Paris Khanna, who made a blistering 123 not out to help his side chase down a challenging target of 266 in just the 36th over.

Binfield continue their 150th anniversary celebrations today (Wednesday) when they join forces with the Berkshire Stags visually impaired cricket team and Tedworth House, the Help for Heroes charity disability team, for a fun day of cricket.

Binfield will also host a National Theatre XI tomorrow followed by a clash against the Chairman’s XI the following day.

The celebrations end this Saturday with a ‘Party Bye the Pitch’ where the whole village is invited to attend. The event includes live music, a barbecue and foot golf.

l BINFIELD CC kept up their title challenge in Morrant Chilterns League Division One with a comfortable 69-run win at Denham on Saturday.

Batting first, Binfield reached 194 all out from 45 overs to set the home side a reachable target.

But Binfield’s bowlers took control from there and Denham were dismissed for 125 all out in 38 overs.

Binfield collected 29 points for the win which leaves them third in the table, one point behind Littlewick Green and 10 points adrift of leaders Penn & Tylers Green, who were held to a draw at Wraysbury needing only 155 runs to win.

Binfield have no game this week but host Chalfont St Giles on Saturday, July 18.

l BINFIELD 2nds had the better of a winning draw at home to Pinkneys Green in Division Two.

They racked up an imposing 276-8 in 52 overs thanks to Bob Khanna (50), Paul Edgington (49) and James Waite (49).

But Binfield failed to take all 10 Pinkeys’ wickets and the visitors survived on 190-9 from 48 overs, led by Bobby Mohammed (52).

Binfield are sixth in the table and are without a fixture this weekend.
