BUDDING performers will have the chance to try out musical theatre, stage combat and hip-hop for free at a performing arts school’s new home.

Artemis Studios has relocated from Charles Square, Bracknell, to Harmans Water and will hold an open day on Tuesday.

The move comes ahead of the redevelopment of the Charles Square area, and Artemis hopes to return to Bracknell town centre when the regeneration is complete.

The school’s new home in Oareborough, Harmans Water, is shared with the Swimarium and has a gym, pool and free parking.

Niki Robinson, director of Artemis, said: “Although it will be a bit different at first, we are sure the students will grow to feel as at home there as they have in our own studios.

“We plan to move back into the town centre in 2016 when the regeneration is complete.” To get its new temporary home off to a great start, Artemis is hosting a free open day for anyone aged seven to 24 who wants to try their hand at a variety of performing arts.

With places in the dance companies up for grabs, anyone showing talent and potential at the open day could have the chance of taking up a place this September. Now a not-for-profit school, Artemis can provide additional scholarships to students who may otherwise struggle to attend and all fees are reinvested into the school itself.

Ms Robinson said: “We have big plans already for our new temporary home and a handful of places available in our junior theatre company, Phoenix hip hop companies, and Elite cheer squad for the new term.” Next on the cards for the junior and teenage theatre company is musical 'Good to be Bad’ which will premiere in March, and their production of 'Les Miserables’, which they will perform in 2016.

Medusa, Artemis’s theatre company for youngsters aged 14-19, will once again be working with the National Theatre Connections offering the teen actors the chance to perform a brand new play written by a celebrated playwright as well as the chance to perform at the National Theatre itself.
