Eight-year-old Evie Shallom, from The Oaks, Bracknell, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and has been in and out of hospital having chemotherapy.

However, through children’s charity Rays of Sunshine, she joined 52 other ill children in meeting the band at Wembley Arena before their concert at Wembley Stadium.

Evie’s dad Aron Shallom said: “Evie is One Direction mad and is besotted with member Harry Styles.

“Evie was over the moon when she learned she was going to meet them and on the day she was so excited.

“All five of One Direction were great answering the children’s questions and having their photo taken with each child. They managed to make each child feel very special. Evie was incredibly lucky to meet them and was the envy of all her friends. She now has some lovely photos of One Direction and Harry to put on her wall.

“She said to me she felt sorry that she forgot to give the others a cuddle because she was so besotted with Harry.

“The boys were so loving and caring and really made all the children feel special, and it felt like they really wanted to be there. It was a wonderful day and Evie is a very happy girl.” The pop stars an-swered a series of questions from the fans, with youngsters discovering that member Liam Payne would have been a fireman had he not made it as a pop star.

Also, each child was given the opportunity to have their photo with the band and got a signed One Direction t-shirt as well.

Following the event on Sunday, June 5, One Direction, an ambassador of the charity, said in a statement: “We love working with Rays of Sunshine.

“Thank you so much for having us involved over and over again.

“They do incredible work which we’ve seen over the last few years and we hope to be involved for many years to come.” Evie – runner-up in the Child of Courage category at this year’s Pride of Bracknell Awards – ran a family fun day last month to raise awareness about her condition and money towards wigs and hats for her.
