As part of this year’s Foster Care Fortnight, running from Monday May 12 to Sunday May 25, Wokingham Borough Council is hoping to recruit at least 25 more foster carers.

As part of the fortnight, the council is holding drop in sessions for residents to get more information as to whether fostering may be for them.

Foster carers can be married, single, a home owner or renter, gay, straight, religious, atheist - all that matters is you are over 21, have a spare room, and that you are right for the child.

Felicity Budgen, interim head of service: children’s social care and intervention, said: “Foster carers are a vital resource for the council, helping us to care for some of the borough’s most vulnerable children by offering a happy and secure family life, and re‐parent our children.

“They can make a huge impact on the lives of children and young people. I encourage anyone who thinks they might be able to help children in their local community to come and talk to us.” The drop in sessions are being held on Saturday May 17 at St Sebastian’s Parish Centre, Nine Mile Ride, Wokingham from 10am to 12pm. Tuesday May 20, at the Luke Room, Wokingham Methodist Church, Rose St, Wokingham from 12.30pm to 2.45pm.
