KEEN golfers braved the April showers when they teed off for a good cause at the Downshire Golf Complex last Friday.

The annual charity golf day helped raise £1,700 for Bracknell Forest mayor Cllr Jan Angell’s chosen charity, Thames Hospice.

The teams of players tucked into bacon rolls and coffee on arrival, received a goodie bag, and had the use of the driving range for some pre-round practice.

They played 18 holes of golf before enjoying a two-course meal, prize giving and a charity raffle in the clubhouse.

The winning team was the White Lion pub, Aldershot, and Cllr Angell said: “Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who took part. I’m really pleased this event was such a success and raised so much money. Thanks also to the brilliant team at Downshire Golf Complex for organising it.

“Downshire is a superb course and everyone who plays there at the charity days always has a fantastic time in aid of a very deserving cause.”
