CHURCHGOERS from Sunninghill, Sunningdale and Ascot paraded through the streets to mark Good Friday.

Members from about eight different churches walked down Ascot High Street, singing hymns, reciting prayers and reading Bible passages out to passers-by at the start of the Easter weekend. About 50 people attended the Walk of Witness, with the clergy from the various churches leading the worship.

The event, held every Good Friday, marks the last journey of Jesus Christ, when he carried the cross on which he would later be crucified.

The Rev Tracey Williams, curate of the Sunninghill and South Ascot parish, said: “It was a great way for all the churches to get together and meet at such an important time in the Christian calendar.

“We always get a good reception from the public and it was good to spread the Christian message to Easter to everyone passing by.”
