FAMILIES visited a pint-sized exhibition where model trains, cars and planes were on display.

The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Museum of Technology (REME) at Arborfield Garrison hosted the model display on Sunday, where hundreds of models were exhibited.

About 400 people turned up throughout the day – an improve-ment on the 250 that attended last year – and enjoyed more than 30 exhibitors showing off their models.

Some exhibitors came from as far as Nottingham and also took part in a competition, with six different categories celebrating the best models.

Oliver Parr, the museum’s education officer, said: “It was the best model show we’ve ever done which was great.

“Lots of families came along and it was received very well. People came from as far as Nottingham to show off their models, which shows how popular the event was.” The event was one of the last activity days before the museum relocates with the garrison to Lyneham next year." Mr Parr added: “We are looking towards the end of our time here and closing our chapter in Arborfield. We have had a great reception and hopefully the public will continue to support us until we do leave.” The museum and REME are set to leave the Arborfield Garrison site by the end of 2015 and move to RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire.

The garrison site has been earmarked for 3,500 homes and schools.
