Employees at Boeh-ringer Ingelheim, based in Ellesfield Avenue, Bracknell, held a party for 40 pensioners where they handed over gifts they had bought.

The company set up a Christmas tree with tags on it with the pensioner’s name and any conditions – such as poor sight or poor mobility. Employees then chose a tag and bought a suitable gift.

They gave their presents to the guests at the party, while youngsters from Jennett’s Park Primary School sang carols.

Tina Jackson, from Boehringer, said: “The party was absolutely brilliant. The pensioners came from the local area and were helped there by Bracknell Forest Voluntary Action and Easthampstead Rotary Club.

“It was a real delight to see the children with the older people of the community and the headteacher said what a difference the children made to them.

“That is very much the case and some of the pensioners were asking whether we can put their names down for next year.” She added some of the pensioners were now looking to meet up again following the party, which took place at the company offices on December 11. Boehringer Ingelheim also showed its charitable side by donating a cheque for £1,000 and extra food to Bracknell Foodbank last week.

Mrs Jackson said: “We have done some work with the Foodbank before and whenever we can, we try to help them.

“We had some money left over in the budget and we thought it would be nice to give to them. We know there are some families who will struggle to provide for their children and we’re always keen to help out.

“At our staff children’s Christmas party we asked for our staff to bring food along we could donate and they did.”
