The deadline for comments is approaching on the Town Council’s plans to build new playing equipment at King George V park.

The decision to install children’s play equipment at the King George V playing field, off Goodchild Road, Wokingham, came after a surplus was left over from refurbishing the footpath.

£15,746 was given to the town council from Wokingham Borough Council under Section 106 developer contributions. £10,952 was used to bring the footpath up to conform with disability guidelines.

The remainder was decided to be used to look into installing new play equipment at the park.

A planning application has been submitted to the council for an 'adventure trail’ play equipment to be installed, coming to £4,123.

The new equipment should hopefully contain a number of apparatuses, and be aimed at children aged three to 10.

The decision to submit the application came in part from the town council not providing any similar equipment in any of its parks.

Section 106 contributions is a mandatory part of any development, and came from developers in the town centre.

To take part in the consultation visit the council’s website and use the reference F/2013/2406. Deadline for comments is Tuesday December 31.
