WORK has begun on a new community centre in Harmans Water.

Representatives from The Parks Community Association, Fenton Construction, Bracknell Forest Council and Taylor Wimpey gathered at the site on Tuesday last week.

The centre, in Nicholson Park, Harmans Water, is expected to open its doors next summer and will include a large hall and meeting room, with a kitchen and outdoor area.

The sports pavilion will be home to four changing areas plus a disabled change area and storage. A small kitchen will be available for use by groups using the sports facilities.

The outdoor sports facilities will include a floodlit, all-weather ball games area, football/rugby pitches, a cricket field and tennis courts.

The centre will host community activities and will also be available to hire for private events.

The changing rooms and sports pitches will also be available for hire.

The work is being carried out by Fenton Construction on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, which will transfer ownership of the centre to Bracknell Forest Council.

The council will then lease the new building to The Parks Community Association.
