A family fun day is being held in aid of charity by the parents of a baby girl who died at just one-day-old.

A Day For Grace is being held this afternoon at Barkham Village Hall, from 1.30-4pm, and is raising money for SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents), in memory of Grace Foster.

Grace died last year after being born with a rare heart condition, Ebstein’s Anomoly.

Aimee Foster, Grace’s mother, said she hopes the event will raise £5,000 for the charity, to provide lifesaving equipment in hospitals for critically ill children.

She said: “Because Grace never had a birthday or any other celebration, we want to celebrate her life and it means so much that we can raise money for other critically ill babies at the same time.” The event is being supported by local businesses and will see bouncy castles, go-karting, adult sumo wrestling, face painting, mini-golf, a barbecue and bar among other activities. Aimee and husband Frank Foster, from Binfield, have created A Year For Grace to raise money for SSNAP, who support the neonatal unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where Grace was born.
