THE hunt for Bracknell's best-looking babies is under way with the Super Tots baby and toddler of the year competition in full swing.

This year's event is the biggest yet - lasting six days - with photographs being taken of youngsters aged six until Sunday.

Parents braved the foul weather on Tuesday as the contest, organised by the News, opened in Princess Square shopping centre, Bracknell.

Stuart Atkins, from LifeStyle Images Events, which is taking the photographs, said he hopes the competition will attract more than 150 kids.

He said: "There's lots of chances to enter so don't miss out on the opportunity to take part. It's a nice memento for the family and for the winners." LifeStyle Images Events has a stand on the ground floor of the shopping centre, next to the escalators, and is open between 10am and 5pm each day.

Mr Atkins said: "We had 151 kids last year and with the extra days we should get more people, I hope.

"We're hoping for a rush later in the week when the word gets round. The kids we have had so far have been good and we always try and get a good smile. The pictures will be good.

"It is a chance for parents to have their children enjoy a free, professional photo shoot." The pictures of the adorable tots will appear in the News in June, published in two special supplements.

Two of the categories will appear in the paper on Thursday, June 20, and the second two on Thursday, June 27. Readers will then have the chance to vote for their favourite. The photo shoot itself is free but parents pay LifeStyle Images Events for any photographs they want to buy.

There are four age categories - for children up to nine months, 10 to 18 months, 19 months to three years and for youngsters aged four to six. Readers can vote for their favourites by coupon or text from Thursday, June 20, until Sunday, July 7. The baby or child with the most votes in each category will be named our champions in the News on Thursday, July 11.

The winning children will receive a fantastic 16"x12" canvas print of their photograph and a certificate, courtesy of LifeStyle Images Events.

Last year's winners were Tayla Mullan, Terry Griffiths, Keyan Nugent, and Alexi Dimotzoglou.
