CONTROVERSIAL proposals to demolish a former sheltered housing block and replace it with new homes will be decided tonight (Thursday).
PRB Architects' plan to replace sixties building Rothwell House, in Crowthorne, with five two-bedroom and four three-bedroom homes has been met with fierce opposition by residents - who argue that there has been no public consultation.
But despite the eight objections received by Bracknell Forest Council, planning officers and workers at Crowthorne Parish Council have recommended the Wellington Road development be approved.
Additional concerns raised by villagers include: The development will be 'out of character' with the area and 'overbearing'.
An affected public footpath is partly owned by the inhabitant at 54 Wellington Road.
The proposed use of an existing footpath as a cycleway would 'undermine pedestrian safety'.
The positioning of steps into the development will encourage on-street parking.
If the plans are approved, it will be under the proviso that the developer complete a Section 106 agreement and that construction work begins within three years.
