MOTORISTS are facing severe delays in the Reading area this morning (Tuesday) after a driver being followed by police crashed on the A33.

The incident happened at 11pm and the northbound stretch of the A33 from the Matalan junction at Rose Kiln Lane to Berkeley Avenue is still closed while police and forensic experts examine the scene.

Diversions are in place but there is likely to be widespread disruption for some hours.

Supt Henry Parsons, from the police traffic uni , said the incident and the circumstances surrounding it have been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
