THE woman found dead in a Bracknell underpass on Sunday has been named this afternoon as Tuanjai Sprengel.

The 43-year-old was found in an underpass in Bay Road at 8am, very near to her her home in Basemoors, Bullbrook.

Following a post mortem yesterday (Monday), Detective Chief Insp Steve Tolmie said today (Tuesday): "The victim died as a result of severe blunt force trauma to the back of her head. There was a small puncture wound to her neck which would have bled but it is not relevant to her cause of death.

"The victim has no known family members in the UK and Thames Valley Police is attempting to identify and locate any family elsewhere."

Det Chf Insp Tolmie also said there was no indication that Ms Sprengel's throat was cut, as had been reported by some national media.

Police are still appealing for witnesses and anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information to call the 24-hour police inquiry centre on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

* A 28-year-old man from Bracknell arrested on suspicion of murder is still being questioned.
