RESIDENTS are feeling "terrifed" after a woman was found dead in a Bullbrook underpass at 7.45am today.
One man, who lives near the incident in Bay Road and wished to remain anonymous, said: "I'm so shocked, it's really horrible, I just can't believe it's happened on our doorstep."
Odeon worker, James Cherry, was on his usual walking route to the cinema from his Harmanswater home just before 9am, when he and a colleague were ushered away from the police cordon, near London Road. He said: "We didn't know what it was at first, we just thought it must be a car accident until the details came out later.
"It's disgusting really. We're hoping it was a pre-mediated thing rather than a random thing - that would be much more terrifying."
Anyone who was in the area this morning or has any information which may help officers with their inquiry should contact the 24-hour police inquiry centre on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
