Fly-half search on-going
LONDON Irish head coach Toby Booth admitted his side are on the look out for another fly-half to bolster their options at 10.
Injuries to Shane Geraghty and Mike Catt this season have seen the Exiles caught short in that department, forcing full-back Peter Hewat to fill in for last Wednesday’s win over Sale.
Booth revealed: “Catty really rates Peter as a fly-half, and he did very well, but he is a full-back.
“We are actively looking to bring in a fly-half, but we will only bring in a player of the required talent to add to our squad.”
Meanwhile Geraghty made his long-awaited return from injury in Sunday’s Cup defeat against Worcester. But Booth feels he is still some way short of full fitness and has some work to do before featuring in England’s autumn internationals.
He said: “I think Shane needs to put a series of games together and play well in those games before he is thrust into the next level up and is expected to spark the England revival.”
