BINFIELD boss Steve McClurg says his team’s work ethic will play a big part in any success they are to have this season.

McClurg was delighted with what he saw from his players last weekend during their 1-0 win at highly-fancied Kintbury Rangers.

And he says that if they continue to work as hard as they did last Saturday, then they will be up there challenging come the end of the season.

He said: “The entire side worked so hard last weekend and they got exactly what they deserved.

“From the goalkeeper to the forwards, everyone did exactly what was asked of them and that was very good to see.

“We’ve got some very good individual players here but they also work as a team. Everyone plays for one another and that’s very important if you want to be successful.

“We’re a good team and we’re playing like one. Everyone is playing their part and if we can keep that up then we will have a chance.”

Binfield travel to Henley Town this Saturday looking to protect one of only two remaining unbeaten records in the league.

Last Saturday’s win saw them move up to third in the table, just two points behind leaders Wokingham & Emmbrook who crashed to their first defeat of the season last weekend at Henley.

McClurg added: “It will be a difficult game. They beat Wokingham on Saturday so showed they are a good team, but we have some players coming back so will go there looking to win.”

James Partridge, Callum Whitty and Tim Walsh all return for the Moles after missing last weekend’s 1-0 win at Kintbury.

After a tight first-half, Binfield upped the tempo after the break and got the goal they deserved with 10 minutes remaining when Justin McClurg got on the end of some fine play from Carl Withers to notch the only goal of the game.

The manager said: “It was a very good team performance. We contained them for most of the game and got what we deserved towards the end.”

Binfield: Adams, Day, Woozley, Millward, Tallentire, Wing, Nebbett, Withers, McClurg, S Williams, Sargeant. Subs used: T Williams.
