POLICE are warning householders to safeguard their jewellery and watches following a spate of burglaries in the Wokingham area.

There have been five break ins during the past fortnight in the area surrounding London Road and intruders have usually entered by forcing an insecure door or window open.

Crime reduction officer John McNicholas said: "It can be very difficult to give a detailed description of jewellery and so I would advise that each item is photographed individually with a ruler laid alongside to indicate its size.

"If you use a digital camera ensure that you back the file up and store your pictures on a disk securely and separately."
